Rachel Cousins, LMSW

Rachel Cousins is a Licensed Master of Social Work. Born and raised in Connecticut, she received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Connecticut and then her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. She has worked within community-based organizations such as the Ryan White Project and in group settings providing case management, psychoeducation, and support to survivors of domestic violence.

 

Rachel has 5 years of experience working with children and families in an in-home setting to address immediate mental health and behavioral issues while also implementing intervention strategies and coping skills to create lasting positive change. She has experience in providing family therapy to children, adolescents, and families with a history of trauma, anxiety, and depression. Rachel uses a strengths-based approach that seeks to empower youth and their families to heal, grow, and address issues together. Rachel also utilizes behavior management, crisis prevention, safety planning, and building trust and communication skills within families.

Rachel enjoys spending time at home with her husband, son, and dog. She is happy curled up on the couch with a book, watching a documentary, or catching up with friends and family.

At this time, we are only accepting referrals from current patients of Frederick County Pediatrics. If your child is not a current medical patient with us, we would encourage you to ask for a behavioral health referral from your pediatrician or to contact your insurance provider to ask for a list of behavioral health providers in your network.
